v Located in Laurel, MD, the Laurel Regional Hospital is a full-service community hospital that has served northern Prince George's County, Montgomery, Howard, and Anne Arundel counties ever since it was founded in 1978.
v It is the only hospital-based accredited inpatient rehabilitation unit in the area and is expanding each year. Most recent additions include expanded emergency services, a critical care area and a pre-admission testing area.
v Health Services:
· Behavioral Health: Like Prince George’s Hospital Center, Laurel Regional Hospital’s behavioral programs are led by Dimensions Behavioral Health system. Laurel is also responsible for hosting frequent service rounds for behavioral health professionals in the community. These community presentations are made upon request, consisting of topics ranging from sexual assault to aggression management.
-Adolescent Behavioral Health Program: Treating children from ages 13 to 18, this program allows the staff to work with the patient, family, and school to address crises through problem solving, anger management, decision making, addiction education, medication education, health education, and group therapy treatment.
· Maternal/ Child Health: priding itself on having a family-centered atmosphere, the LRH Maternal Child Health Unit has private labor delivery rooms to provide the comfort of a home. More importantly, the unit is equipped with the latest of medical technology; including fetal monitoring and neonatal care systems, caesarean delivery room, special care nursery, 24-hour physician coverage for obstetrics, anesthesia and nursery services, and a neonatal physician on duty at all times should your new baby experience any problems. Childbirth classes, infant CPR classes, and tours of the unit are offered weekly.
· Outpatient Addiction Treatment: In addition to the PHP treatments, Laurel also offers an Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program that allows patients the option of remaining at home and continuing to work if they wish. Counseling services include assessment and evaluation, intensive outpatient treatment, outpatient therapy groups, aftercare and relapse therapy groups, MVA approved alcohol/drug DWI education, family counseling, and individual counseling.
· Sleep Disorder Center: Performed on an outpatient, overnight basis, the center serves to properly diagnose and treat sleep disorders. Additionally, LRH offers neuro-diagnostic testing which is used to diagnose patients suffering from epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
· Wound Care Center: Vascular surgeons, podiatrists, plastic surgeons, general surgeons, and infectious disease specialists are dedicated to treating patients with wounds that have failed to heal (usually bed-ridden or diabetic patients). The center has an overall healing rate of 87% and specializes in an earlier recovery and prevention of permanent disability.
