Mount Calvert Historical and Archaeological Park

Prince George's County Planning Board The Mount Calvert Historical and Archaeological Park is located in Upper Marlboro and offers a unique mix of Native American, African American, and European-American history. The park is currently restoring an 18th Century plantation house originally built by John Brown.

Native American archaeology at the site dates back over 8000 years, and European settlement of the site traces its roots all the way back to 1658. Mount Calvert was the first seat of government for Prince George's County, then functioned as a plantation throughout the 18th and 19th Centuries.

The park offers a public program on weekends, featuring digs and hands-on acttvities.
