Red Cross:Prince George's County Chapter
6206 Belcrest Road
Hyattsville, MD 20782

Interviewee: Willinge Shelton
Interviewer: Harold, Brandon & Cesar

As we walked through Belcrest road, we saw the Red Cross and decided to go in. The room was silent and refreshing. The receptionist told us to wait while she found someone to talk with. We waited patiently, and rested in the sofas. Finally, Willinge Shelton came and allowed us to interview her.

She explained to us that the Red Cross is a non-profit organization. The Red Cross helps people who had a disaster with food, clothing and housing. The Red Cross gets money from fund raising and contributions.

In this building, there are approximately 10 full time employees and many other volunteers. Mrs. Shelton informs us that they offer internships in public relations and fund-raising. Also in this building, they give C.P.R. classes.
Mrs. Shelton has been working at the Red Cross for 7 months in customer service. She is retired from the federal government. She likes her work, mostly because she likes to work with people. When she was little she never imagined working with Red Cross nor the federal government; she wanted to be a writer. She told us that now that she is retired, she is trying to write a fiction book; but it's difficult because of her training.

I believe the Red Cross is not just an asset to Prince George's County but also for the whole country and world because it brings help to the needy when it is required.
