Paperworks

By Tricia Angall & Susan Lyons

As we entered the balloon store, Susan and I were greeted with a friendly hello by one of the store employees named Tracy. Walking through the store we were surrounded by the different sorts of cards, balloons, and gifts. The colors and scents of candles filled the store and gave it a sort of homey touch. We reached a small office in the back of the store where Lisa Holt, the blonde blue-eyed manger sat at a desk loaded with pictures of employees, friends and family. She told us the store has been up and running for about 17 years and used to be located around the corner from its present location.

The store sells lots of different things including all types of cards, balloons, and gifts. People usually come in and buy cards and gifts for their friends and family on birthdays and holidays. The prices for cards and balloons vary but most cards are at least $2.00, Millar balloons are $3.50, and latex is .90 cents apiece. The store displays a wide selection of cards, balloons, candles, and gifts. I also saw journals and cute pictures frames that you could put in your room.

Before the interview came to a close we talked about what Lisa thought were assets to our community. The redskins stadium was on top of her list, along with the people, and stores that have been in the community for a long time although she does not live in Prince George's County.
