College Park Airport

At the College Park Airport (CPA) there are a lot of small planes along the 2,600-foot runway. The terminal seemed more like and extended trailer, but was nice. When inside we were directed towards employee Dan Spicer who answered our questions. We found that Dan had been working at the CPA for two years and flying since 1962. The subject of September 11th came up. Dan said that before the incident the airport carried over 80 airplanes and after it the airport was closed, so owners came and retrieved their planes.

While the airport was closed they lost more than half of the airplanes, the owners came from all over to gather their planes. Hopefully people can regain trust of safety and go back to the airport.
You must be sixteen years of age and be medically cleared in order to get a learner's license.
You must be seventeen in order to get a pilots license. In order to get the license you must have over forty hours of flight experience. It can run up to ninety dollars an hour to rent a plane in order to fly these required hours. But the airport does not supply the airplane. You must provide your own in order to fly in the airport.

The CPA as well as the museum is very community oriented, meaning that they are very involved with the community. The airport holds annual air shows to amuse the crowd. With lots of entertainment for everyone.

CPA is an asset to our county because it fulfils us with the feeling that history was and is being made in Prince Georges County. This Airport is the longest continuously running airport in the world and it can be found here in Prince Georges County.
